Joy

During my time in South Africa, I was able to catch the cheerful play of two children while exploring Digital Pinhole Photography in Hout Bay. For me, the pictures raise ambigious emotions by watching the children play joyfully within an unsafe environment and with an uncertain future. How long will children stay unburdened within a multi-racial society characterized by poverty and crime. Pinhole photography with its soft and out-of-focus outcome emphasizes the ease of the children's play. But the blurred vision also shows the fugacity of this moment.

Passers-By

Pinhole Photography and additional camera movement convey the fugacity of a moment in everyday chance encounters. Passers-by become mere silhouettes without any recollection of faces and shapes. Sometimes only a hint of color resonates in our minds. The double pinhole produces an echo image of the figures passing by, lighter and softer, initiating the oblivion.

Passers-By (s/w)

In today's society we often live an anonymous life. We encounter numerous persons without paying attention at all. Distracted by social media on mobile devices, passers-by become mere silhouettes without any recollection of faces, shapes and color. Digital Photography and additional camera movement convey the fugacity of this moment. The double pinhole produces an echo image of the figures passing by, lighter and softer, initiating the oblivion.
